Blue Velvet

I think we were twelve

And you whispered “you’re my hero”

And that day I believed I was a hero.

And I never forgot your words.

You made me believe

I felt something special

And whenever I saw you

I believed

I was a hero.

And when we were fourteen

and you asked me to dance

A slow dance

Blue Velvet

And that night I believed

That I was special

And I never forgot

You made me believe

I was a hero.

And then we grew older

And I was too foolish

To understand your life

And see

How strong

And determined.

And how special

you were.

But then so many years later

We met again

And I realized

How very special you were

And I was amazed.

And you became my hero.

Wish we could dance

One more time

To Blue Velvet

With You

My hero.
